Been offline for a while!

Haven’t been blogging my training lately…haven’t really had alot of computer time these days…sooo busy!!

 Anyhow…wanted to log my long run yesterday.  Trying to train for the Disney Marathon in Jan and get my mileage up for the Half I might do in Oct. 

 So far things are going ok…wish I was faster!  But considering I still have a good 30 pounds to loose I hope that will come in time!

Wallowing in Self Loathing

Geez I suck! I totally had a crappy workout weekend…Had a bad 3.5 mile run Sat. and followed it up with a SERIOUS binge on alcohol at my best friend’s birthday party…then of course had to take Sunday off to recover (from the hang over..not the run!) ran that little bit Monday and took Tuesday off as well due to lack of sleep, over scheduling, and just feeling exhausted!

How the F am I gonna make my mileage needed for my Half unless I get my sh*t together!

I’m feeling pretty crappy obviously about my lack of dedication and self control the last few days.

Well…I guess I have an LSD with my name on it in the am…I need to set my alarm and get up early. No excuses for the rest of the week!!

If I have to walk some does that still count?

Ran with my friend Traci this am…who is faster than me…and I felt like I couldn’t keep up with her. She has been running for about a year and a half and I have only been running for about 5 months. Plus she is a healthy weight and I still need to loose 50 pounds…

but still…

Felt crappy, kept getting a stitch in my side…had to stop and walk several times…I HATE THAT! Makes me feel like it doesn’t count as a run if i had to walk some of it. Doesn’t happen alot fortunately…but I think the perfectionist in me tends to be very critical of the times I need to walk and figure it doesn’t really add up for time logged in as a run. Then I get in this “well I didn’t really work out today…so I need to double my efforts tomorrow” mode of thinking.

I think I have issues…but anyhow, I need to seriously stick to my plan. Otherwise I’ll never increase my mileage past the 5-6 I do on a long run. My half is in December! That will be here before I know it!

Stomach Cramps Anyone??

Ok…I realized running in 95 degrees with 80% humidity is not fun…nor the most ideal! however…I work night shift and have a VERY busy schedule! I work 13 hour shifts, about 72 hours a week, homeschool my kids, get 5-6 hours of sleep a day if I’m lucky and am soo tired in the am when I get off work that I just want to crash.

So needless to say the majority of time I have to run and train is the afternoon right before I need to get ready for work. I live in Florida…need I saymore about the summer heat?

So what I want to know… is this…

A few times I have been out and while running (even though I wasn’t feeling particularly over fatigued or tired) I got some REALLY BAD abd cramps…I mean so bad that I thought I was going to have to stop and sit down for a while because I couldn’t even stand up to walk straight! Ofcourse I was about 3 miles from my car so I had to walk back which sucked…but the one time I had to walk a mile before they went away and the other time I had to walk the whole 3 miles back to my car.

I have run out in the heat before (actually kinda frequently) without too much trouble, and I try not to really push myself in the heat…AND I drink TONS of water! So I know I’m not dehydrated.

So any ideas as to why this is happening and what I can do to prevent it? It’s only happened twice, but I tell ya it nearly knocked me on my as*!

I really am going to need to up the time I spend outside cuz I need to up my mileage.

So any helpful suggestions would be welcome!!

Gettin Serious!!

Well…I started my serious half training! Figured I better get with a real program rather than just kinda running what I can and hoping for the best! LOL…

So decided to do the Runner’s World “Ultimate Half Marathon Training Program” (the beginner’s one anyhow)

So today I did 2 miles at an easy pace (4.7 mph) then did 5 Aerobic Intervals at 1:00 each and recovered with an easy jog inbetween, then ran another mile (was supposed to be two but I ran out of time).

Felt pretty good even though I had to do it on the treadmill cuz I wanted to watch my times and pace.

Anyhow…went pretty well. They seem to think I will be running double digits on my long run in about 6 weeks…we’ll see! LOL

Pushin it

Geez…I really need to find a better time of day to run! Sooo hot outside…it really is sapping my energy and making it much harder for me to go longer and faster. Need to rework my schedule or something, but it is really hard working night shift. I am EXHAUSTED when I get off work at 7:30 and am dying to get in bed! Gonna have to rework things I think!

New Course

thought rather than going to the bridge today I would just run around the neighborhood…haven’t really done that before cuz of the really heavy traffic.  but stuck mostly to the sidewalks and it was a really good run…despite the 93 degrees!!
